Plunk

(noun) the sound made by abruptly plucking a string

Instrument Overview

The Plunk Bass is our dedicated bass instrument platform.

It is built on the same structural and energy-management principles as the Concision Series, deliberately re-scaled and re-proportioned to meet the mechanical demands of bass tension, longer wavelengths, and low-frequency articulation.

Every dimension of the Plunk—body mass, neck stiffness, joint geometry, and balance point—has been adjusted to support bass fundamentals without excess damping or uncontrolled bloom. The result is an instrument that maintains clarity and definition under high string energy while remaining comfortable and stable in extended playing positions.

Rather than offering multiple body variants, the Plunk is designed as a single, fixed system.

This allows the platform to be refined around predictable load paths, consistent resonance behavior, and repeatable setup outcomes. The focus is not on visual variation, but on mechanical consistency and reliable feel across builds.

The Plunk Emphasizes

Controlled low-end response without looseness

Clear attack and note separation under heavier strings

Even balance across the strap and seated positions

A stable, confidence-inspiring feel at full bass scale lengths

The goal is a bass that feels intentional and resolved—one that translates player input efficiently, supports the fundamental, and stays composed under real-world bass playing conditions.

How The Plunk Behaves

The Plunk Bass is engineered for consistent response and predictable articulation across every string.

Its shallow nut break angle applies precise downward pressure: higher strings engage slightly more, while lower strings remain free and uncompressed.

This balance ensures even tension distribution and a uniform feel across the fretboard.

The result is a bass that feels fast, balanced, and responsive in any position or playing style.

Notes speak immediately without harsh attack, maintain clarity, and sustain without excess damping, giving the player a controlled, musical foundation across the entire range.

Why This Instrument Exists

The Plunk Bass was created for players who demand immediate, balanced, and purposeful response—regardless of unconventional aesthetics.

Its single-cut body places mass directly into the bass-side neck shaft, reinforcing structural stability, reducing torque under heavy low-string tension, and enhancing sustain and clarity on the lower strings.

This carefully distributed weight also allows the instrument to sit naturally, maintaining ergonomic balance and stability whether standing or seated.

In short, the Plunk exists to translate every hand motion and string interaction into precise, consistent musical output, putting control and confidence directly in the player’s hands.

Body Shape

The Plunk body shape is designed around mass placement and balance, not tradition.

The outline positions material where it most effectively supports low-frequency energy, neck stability, and playing ergonomics.

The single-cut form couples the body’s mass directly into the bass-side neck shaft, increasing structural continuity and reducing energy loss at the neck joint. This improves stability under load and supports consistent response across the strings.

Proportions are optimized for seated and standing balance, keeping the instrument neutral at the strap while maintaining a compact reach despite extended scale lengths.

The Plunk shape is not a stylistic choice. It is a structural solution built specifically for bass response.

Configuration Flexibility

The Plunk Bass is a single, fixed platform engineered for balanced tension and consistent response.

Materials, finish, and setup are customizable, but core geometry, electronics, and hardware remain locked to preserve its engineered feel.

Build Your Plunk

The Plunk Bass is a single, fixed platform—its geometry, hardware, and core behavior are set.

Individuality comes through materials, string count, scale length, fretboard options, spacing layout, and finish, allowing you to tailor the instrument to your preferences while preserving its engineered response.
